Thanksgiving weekend 2001. Our first major holiday in the new home and Alan was able to get the whole 4 days off for a much needed break from work. Well instead of breaking out the new china (which has not been used yet J ) we rented a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer and drove to Pike, NY. Yep, that is in New York! This unforgettable trip was for the grand purpose of picking up the new addition to our family, Cherokee. Cherokee is a Shiloh Shepherd, which is a special breed of German Shepherd. The breed originated in NY 40 years ago, by Tina Barber (aka MaShiloh) and we went to the source to get our wonderful puppy. Well after 23 hours through AR, TN, KY, OH, PA, we finally arrived in NY. It was a memorable experience and well worth the trip!
